Nonverbal theories, due to their emphasis on "sensory lived experience" and "pre-linguistic perception," provide us with new and creative tools for a better and more complete understanding of the text. This research aims to analyze and explain nonverbal elements in Sohrab Sepehri"s poem "The Traveler" in order to determine what achievements and applications the application of this theory has for a deeper understanding and comprehension of this text. METHODOLOGY: This research was conducted using a comprehensive theoretical framework of nonverbal communication (theories of Mehrabian, McNeil, Ekman, Argyle, Hall, and Knapp) and using the qualitative content analysis method. In this regard, nonverbal signs (including visual-motor, acoustic, ocular, tactile, spatial, olfactory, gustatory, temporal, environmental, and appearance signs) and their nine functions (repetition, contradiction, completion, substitution, emphasis, flow regulation, expression of identity, relationship, and power) have been adapted to poetic verses and images. FINDINGS: The research findings show that in the poem "The Traveler," there are often nonverbal elements to convey the poet"s general messages to the audience. Sepehri has made abstract concepts such as love, loneliness, sadness, distance, and truth tangible through sensory and physical signs. Analyses indicate that most nonverbal functions are present in this poem. However, the functions of "expression of relationship," "completion," and "substitution" have the highest frequency and play the most practical role in this poem. CONCLUSION: Sohrab Sepehri"s poem "The Traveler" is more than a literary work; it is a sensory-ideological statement against the dominance of instrumental reason and the inability of referential language to reflect truth, which presents a new ontology to the audience by using non-verbal signs. In this poem, Sepehri, by using various non-verbal communication functions, shows the limitations of stereotypical and referential verbal systems of language and that reaching the truth can be possible through deep observation, listening with the soul"s ear, and true presence in the realm of nature and pure human experiences.زمینه و هدف: ارتباطات غیرکلامی که در تعاملات انسانی نقش مؤثری ایفا میکنند، جایگاهی بنیادین در انتقال مفاهیم عاطفی، وجودی و شناختی دارند و به دلیل تأکید بر تجربه های‌ زیستۀ حسی و ادراک پیشازبانی، ابزارهایی نو و خلاقانه ای برای فهم بهتر و بیشتر متون در اختیار ما میگذارند. هدف این پژوهش، تحلیل و تبیین عناصر غیرکلامی در شعر «مسافر» سپهری است تا مشخص شود کاربست این نظریه برای فهم و درک عمیقتر این شعر چه دستاوردها و کاردبردهایی میتواند داشته باشد. روش‌شناسی: این پژوهش با بهره گیری از چارچوب نظری جامع ارتباطات غیرکلامی (نظریه های محرابیان، مک نیل، اکمن، آرگایل، هال و نپ) و با استفاده از روش تحلیل محتوای کیفی انجام شده است. در این راستا، نشانه های غیرکلامی (شامل نشانه های دیداری-حرکتی، صوتی، چشمی، تماسی، فضایی، بویایی، چشایی، زمانی و محیطی) و کارکردهای نه گانۀ آن‌ها (تکرار، تناقض، تکمیل، جایگزینی، تأکید، تنظیم جریان، ابراز هویت، رابطه و قدرت) با ابیات و تصاویر شعری تطبیق داده شده اند. یافته ها: یافته های پژوهش نشان میدهد که در شعر «مسافر» بیشتر عناصر غیرکلامی برای القای پیامهای کلی شاعر به مخاطب وجود دارد. سپهری مفاهیمی انتزاعی نظیر عشق، تنهایی، غم، فاصله و حقیقت را از طریق نشانه های حسی و کالبدی ملموس ساخته است. همچنین یافته های حاصل از تحلیل حاکی از آن است که بیشتر کارکردهای غیرکلامی در این شعر حضور دارد. اما کارکردهای ابراز رابطه، تکمیل و جایگزینی بیشترین بسامد و کاربردیترین نقش را در این شعر دارند. نتیجه گیری: شعر مسافر سپهری فراتر از اثر ادبی، بیانیه ای حسی- اندیشگانی علیه سلطۀ عقل ابزاری و ناتوانی زبان ارجاعی در بازتاب حقیقت است که با استفاده از نشانه های غیرکلامی، هستی‌شناسی تازه ای به مخاطب عرضه میکند؛ در این شعر، سپهری با به کارگیری کارکردهای متنوع ارتباطی غیرکلامی، محدودیت نظامهای کلامی کلیشه ای و ارجاعی زبان را باز مینمایاند و نشان میدهد که دریافت حقیقت میتواند از راه تماشای عمیق و غیرعادتی، شنیدن با گوش جان و حضور راستین در ساحت طبیعت و تجارب ناب انسانی امکانپذیر شود.عناصر غیرکلامی, سهراب سپهری, شعر «مسافر», نشانه های دیداری-حرکتی, نشانه های صوتی.Non-verbal elements, Sohrab Sepehri, "The Traveler" poem, visual-kinesthetic signs, sound signs.https://bahareadab.com/downloadPDF/2030.pdfhttps://bahareadab.com/downloadPDF/2030.pdfhttps://bahareadab.com/article/تحلیل عناصر غیرکلامی و کارکردهای آن در شعر مسافر سهراب سپهریhttps://bahareadab.com/en/article/Analysis of Nonverbal Elements and Their Function in Sohrab Sepehri's Poem "The Traveler" Abstract
