Since narratology emerged in the wake of structuralism with a focus on the text’s internal mechanisms, this research seeks to show how differences in the choice of narrator and the mode of focalization lead to two distinct patterns of representing the female mind, emotion, and identity. METHODOLOGY: Method: Adopting a descriptive–analytical approach and drawing on narratology, this study examines the narrative structure and techniques in two novels: Jean-Christophe by Romain Rolland and I’ll Turn Off the Lights by Zoya Pirzad. FINDINGS: The findings indicate that in Jean-Christophe, third-person narration and predominantly internal focalization on the novel’s main character, Antoinette Rivière, provide the ground for combining psychological analysis, ethical reflections, and a socio-historical perspective. By contrast, in I’ll Turn Off the Lights, Clarisse’s first-person, internal narration foregrounds everyday, emotional, and familial experience and results in a more minimalist representation of the textual world. CONCLUSION: Ultimately, this research argues that the narrative techniques in both novels are not merely tools for conveying the story; rather, they function as mechanisms for meaning-making, for shaping female subjectivity, and for linking individual experience to social and cultural contexts. زمینه و هدف: مسئلۀ اصلی پژوهش آن است که روایت در این دو اثر چگونه از رهگذر مؤلفه هایی چون زاویه دید، کانونی‌شدگی، زمان روایت، توصیف، زبان و نحوۀ مداخلۀ راوی، به بازنمایی تجربه زیسته شخصیت زن و شکلگیری معنا یاری میرساند. از آنجا که روایت‌شناسی در امتداد ساختارگرایی و با تمرکز بر سازوکارهای درونی متن شکل گرفته است، این پژوهش میکوشد نشان دهد که تفاوت در انتخاب راوی و شیوۀ کانونی‌سازی، چگونه به دو الگوی متفاوت از بازنمایی ذهن، عاطفه و هویت زنانه منجر میشود. روش پژوهش: این پژوهش با رویکردی توصیفی-تحلیلی و بر پایۀ روایت‌شناسی، به بررسی ساختار و شگردهای روایت در دو رمان جان‌شیفته اثر رومن رولان و چراغها را من خاموش میکنم اثر زویا پیرزاد میپردازد. یافته های پژوهش: یافته ها نشان میدهد که در جان‌شیفته، روایت سوم‌شخص و کانونی‌شدگی عمدتاً درونی بر شخصیت اصلی رمان، آنت ریوی‌یر، زمینه را برای تلفیق تحلیل روانشناسی، تأملات اخلاقی و چشم‌انداز اجتماعی-تاریخی فراهم میکند؛ در حالی که در چراغها را من خاموش میکنم، روایت اول‌شخص و درونیِ کلاریس، تجربه روزمره، عاطفی و خانوادگی را در کانون توجه قرار میدهد و به بازنمایی مینیمالیستری از جهان متن می‌انجامد. نتیجه گیری: این پژوهش در نهایت استدلال میکند که شگردهای روایی در هر دو رمان نه صرفاً ابزار انتقال داستان، بلکه سازوکارهایی برای تولید معنا، شکل‌دهی به سوژه گی زنانه و پیوند دادن تجربۀ فردی با زمینه های اجتماعی و فرهنگیند.روایت‌شناسی, زاویه دید, کانونی‌شدگی, راوی, جان‌شیفته, چراغها را من خاموش میکنمnarratology, point of view, focalization, narrator, Jean-Christophe, I’ll Turn Off the Lightshttps://bahareadab.com/downloadPDF/2015.pdfhttps://bahareadab.com/downloadPDF/2015.pdfhttps://bahareadab.com/article/ساختار و شگردهای روایت در رمان مدرن: مطالعۀ موردی رمان جان شیفته اثر رومن رولان و چراغها را من خاموش میکنم اثر زویا پیرزادhttps://bahareadab.com/en/article/Narrative Structure and Techniques in the Modern Novel: A Case Study of The Enchanted Soul by Romain Rolland and I’ll Turn Off the Lights by Zoya Pirzad
